Last ??? chapters

The last chapters that our class has read were about the fur trade and the Oregon Trail. During the fur trade many British companies went and trapped fur bearing animals, but some USA companies gave us claim to some of the Oregon territory, which included Washington, Oregon, Idaho, and part of british columbia. The Oregon Trail was the mass migration of settlers from the east coast to the west coast, and the Oregon trail helped the USA get more land.

Chapter 3

Monday, April 19th, 2010

In chapter 3, the things that I’ll remember most are the Plateau and Coastal indians, their forms of transportation, and their religion. What I learned from chapter 3 are the differences between the coastal and plateau indians cultures’. This is important to our states history because they were here first.

What I learned in chapter 2

Monday, April 19th, 2010

In chapter 2 the things that i’ll remember most are the rainshadow effect, and the ecosystems of Washington State. What I learned is that cape dissapointment has its name because of the Lewis and Clark expedition. This was important because they thought they would exit into the puget sound but they didn’t.

Washington History Chapter 1

Thursday, March 25th, 2010

I learned about the geological events and properties of Washington State, such as what formed the channeled scablands and the geological regions of Washington. One of the things I will always remember is that there were many megafloods from lake missoula that formed the scablands.

Wiki project

Wednesday, March 3rd, 2010

i think that the best part of my project is the table of contents and the bibliography because the table of contents is a good widget to add to a wiki page and the bibliography is in MLA format correctly. One thing that i could improve is the length of some of the sections because some of the responses seem a little short. If i could do one thing differently i would use more sources. I liked giving and getting feedback because it gave an oppurtunity to improve your wiki. What i strongly disliked diigo!! i strongly disliked diigo because it was unpractical.

Islam Poster

Working on dabbleboard was very confusing at first, but as time went by, it got easier and easier to use. One of the negative aspects was how hard to recover your files was. One positive aspect is that you can communicate with your partner. What i have learned from this poster about the five pillars is that each pillar is pretty demanding, and i now know that muslims practice their faith very strictly and by-the-book. The five pillars of Islam are like a difficult project, it has so many requirements.

To survive in the desert, you should always wear light colored and light weight clothing. You should travel by camel and stop at oases whenever it is possible. In Arabia’s coastal plain you could become a farmer or a merchant and live in port cities. To survive in the mountains create terraces to control water and grow crops that are “mountain-friendly”. To survive by oases you use date palms for food, shade, and supplies. Use the oasis water to irrigate your crops and if you can, convert your shelter by the oasis a trading center. These are some of the many tips on surviving in Pre-Medieval Arabia.

Using a wiki was time consuming and sometimes confusing. i think that it is a good thing to use for a project.
